VA disability ratings for eczema, psoriasis, scars, burn injuries, dermatitis, and skin conditions caused by toxic exposure, combat, or military service environments.
Skin conditions are commonly caused by military service through occupational chemical exposure, burn pit particulates, contaminated water, thermal burns from combat, jungle and desert environments, and toxic mold at military installations. The VA rates skin conditions based on affected body surface area and treatment requirements — conditions requiring systemic therapy (biologics, oral medications) receive higher ratings than those controlled topically. Scars are separately rated based on location, size, and whether they impair underlying joint function.
