VA Disability β Infectious & Immune Disorders
VA disability ratings for lupus, HIV-related illness, Lyme disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, and infectious and immune disorders acquired or worsened during military service.
Infectious and immune disorders arise from military service through multiple pathways: deployment to disease-endemic regions, contaminated water exposure, toxic chemical-induced immunosuppression, and the physiological effects of chronic combat stress. Many conditions have presumptive service connection for veterans who deployed to specific regions or served in contaminated environments. The VA recognizes a wide range of tropical and infectious diseases acquired during qualifying deployments under 38 CFR Β§ 3.307 and Β§ 3.309.
